Our Review Methodology

🕐 Last Updated: July 2026✍️ PostureSolved Editorial Team

This page explains exactly how PostureSolved researches, evaluates, and recommends office chairs — including what we do, what we don’t do, and how we keep our recommendations independent.

Research-Based, Not Hands-On Lab Testing

We want to be transparent about something many review sites are not: PostureSolved is a research-based publication. We do not claim to physically test every chair in a lab or sit in each one for weeks. Instead, our recommendations are built from three sources we can stand behind:

  • Manufacturer specifications — weight capacity, adjustments, materials, certifications, and warranty, cross-checked against official sources
  • Verified buyer feedback — recurring themes across a large volume of independent owner reviews, rather than any single opinion
  • Established ergonomic guidance — widely accepted principles for healthy sitting, posture, and lumbar support

Where listings disagree — for example, when one retailer states a higher weight capacity than the manufacturer — we note the discrepancy and tell you to verify the current spec before buying.

What We Look For in a Chair

Every chair we feature is assessed against the same criteria, weighted by their real impact on comfort and posture:

  • Ergonomic adjustments — lumbar support, seat height and depth, recline and tilt, and armrest control
  • Build and durability — weight capacity, frame and base quality, certifications, and warranty length
  • Value for the price — whether the chair earns its place at its position in its price range
  • Fit considerations — height and body-size ranges a chair genuinely suits

How We Rank and Label Chairs

Our rankings and “Best for” labels (such as Best Overall, Best Value, or Best for Tall Users) reflect how well a chair fits a specific need, not how much commission it pays. When we name a chair our top pick, we explain the verifiable reasons — for example, a longer warranty, a higher weight capacity, or a 24/7 usage rating — so you can judge the reasoning for yourself.

How We Handle Drawbacks

Every product has trade-offs, and we include a “Watch-outs” note for each chair. These are grounded in verifiable facts — a shorter warranty, a lower weight capacity, a firmer seat material — and in genuinely recurring owner feedback. We do not invent drawbacks, and we do not hide them to make a sale.

Editorial Independence

PostureSolved earns affiliate commissions when readers buy through some of our links. This never influences which chairs we recommend or how we rank them. We would make the same recommendations with or without an affiliate relationship. You can read more in our Affiliate Disclosure and Editorial Policy.

Keeping Our Guides Current

Prices, availability, and even specifications change over time. We revisit our guides periodically and update them, and we always advise checking the current listing details before you buy. If you spot something out of date or incorrect, we want to know — see our Editorial Policy for how to reach us.
